A gentle humming was carried through the breeze. A brunette could be seen making her way through the grand courtyard, a basket in her hands and a blanket tucked under her arm. She weaved to and fro, avoiding and dancing around the bushes and branches like a ballerina. The path to her favorite spot was starting to actually look like a path; she zigged and zagged the same way every time, it seemed. Aereth made a mental note to change up her ways. Thoughts or worries about someone else finding her receded as she gazed out at a clearing amidst the wooded garden.
The spring season brought with it beautiful blooms. Aereth removed her shoes and placed them at the entrance to the path, and she allowed her feet to touch the plush grass. Normally, she hated to take off her shoes out of fear of getting dirty. But Aereth knew this place well. It was where she could be found when she just wanted to get away from it all.
Aereth spread the blanket out below her, and she set the basket on a corner so that it would not blow away in the breeze. Her humming grew louder in confidence of the fact that she was alone... Or so she thought. Her keen ears could not hear anyone coming, so she decided to just dive right in.
From her basket, she pulled a few dishes full of afternoon snacks. Tea cakes, some fresh fruit, miniature sandwiches with cucumber and pesto, turkey and tomato, as well as a few other things. "My, Anduil went all out today, didn't she," Aereth mused to herself. Her maids normally did not spoil her so much. Today must have been a good day for them as well.
Aereth lifted a sandwich to her lips, and she was about to take a bite, when she heard a crack in the bushes.
