It was that time of year again where the air was just filled with thick clouds that blocked out the sun, occasionally releasing a heavy rainstorm upon the unsuspecting people down below. Though it had been raining for a few days already, those past few days really couldn’t be compared to this evening, where the land was tormented by a huge rainstorm that was sure to ruin more than a few people’s good moods. Thankfully for Asami, she was a bit of a weirdo, and rather than run for shelter, she was happily prancing through the damp forest with the widest of grins spreading across her face. The young ninja had never fully understood why people disliked rain as much as they did, if you ever ran out of water you could just open your mouth and catch the tiny (or in this case thick) droplets falling from the sky, effectively saving you from dying of dehydration. Not that that was really necessary here, with the Junsui river running nearby… but still. And Asami personally never felt more alive than when she was slipping on the wet earth and shivering uncontrollably at the cold, which was exactly what she was doing right now.[/size]
Her teeth were clattering, her body was shaking and her entire skin was covered in Goosebumps right now. But still she looked like the Cheshire cat on a mission the way she was just mindlessly wandering through the forest. She could claim that she was out here to build up her immune system, that she simply wanted to be in the best shape to be the best ninja she could possibly be… but that would be lying. The truth was, she just liked playing around like this, and though she usually didn’t care about what other people thought of her, it was getting tiresome, always having to defend her actions when people called her childish and told her to act more like her own age. In this weather, the chances of running into someone were slim, and even if she did come across someone, she could just kick or spit water into their face to scare them off.
Asami nodded proudly at herself for always having a solution to deal with annoying people, before noting a deep puddle of mud a few feet away from her. The young woman bit her lip in excitement and took a few steps backwards before making a mad dash for the puddle, pulling her leg back as far as she could before burying her bare foot deep into the mud and kicking it as far away as she could. It actually got pretty far too, landing all the way into a bush a few feet ahead. “And she scores! Woohoo!” Asami cheered for herself, but she quickly silenced again when she heard the most terrifying hiss ever come out of the bushes. “Uh…” she narrowed her eyes some to see what was coming out of the bushes, and laughed a bit nervously when a tiny ball of black fur came walking out, its hair wet and sticking to its body, now not only covered in water, but in mud as well. “Oh shit! Sorry itty bitty kitty friend!” she laughed nervously. Oh boy, now she regretted not wearing boots or anything. Cats using your bare legs as a scratching pole was not fun. Asami could know, having been attacked more than once over similar incidents like this one.
The cat didn’t take the apology well and just continued to hiss like some sort of demon spawning straight from hell. Even Asami had to admit feeling absolutely terrified, and Asami never admitted to being scared. “No! Bad kitty! Bad!” she scolded, taking a step back just in case it decided to charge her… which it did. It had some ground to cover before getting to her, but not much. Well, crap… maybe she shouldn’t go kicking mud in random directions again. That was, if she survived this attack. Rather than running away, Asami nervously held her ground. The cat would catch up with her if she ran anyway, and it could probably climb a tree better than she could too. No, running away was pointless, the only way to handle this situation was through intimidation. Just act like you’re a bigger bad ass than you really are. It had worked out in the past, so why not try it now?
As the cat neared, Asami again lifted her leg up above the puddle and then stomped down in it hard enough to make mud splash all the way up to her elbow. Widening her eyes to almost resemble some wild animal, she raised her arms above her head and stomped her other foot down onto the ground before letting out a growl so loud and ferocious sounding that she almost scared herself. “DO YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME CAT?!” she screamed angrily, stomping her feet again, “COME AND GET IT THEN, I HAVEN’T HAD CAT IN A WHILE AND I’M STARRRRRVING!” to take it a step further, she actually started running towards the cat with outstretched arms and a psychotic glint in her eyes.
Despite being an animal with lesser brain functions than a human, the feline seemed to realize that Asami really was a lot bigger and likely stronger than itself, and honestly… not even animals were foolish enough to mess with a deranged person. So, after giving one final hiss, the cat slowly turned to the side before fleeing from the psycho human. Said psycho human cackled victoriously as she did a little dance around her puddle, “That’s right, run! RUNNNN BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND!” when she was certain the cat wouldn’t be coming back, the ninja giggled like a happy schoolgirl and wandered off towards the nearest tree, slumping down against it and sighing happily. She was such a bad ass.
